“If you have your health, you have what you need.”
As a child, I grew up in Florida, the land of sunshine and shorts. I was overweight and tall for my age. Because of my embarrassment about my looks, I was a very inactive child. Once I became an adult, I still struggled with my weight. But I realized that I valued my health and had to take better care of myself. As I became more aware of my family history of extensive heart disease, I knew I had to actively exercise and watch my diet.
Over the years, I have exercised and dieted continuously, but still continued to struggle. I had major back surgery almost eight years ago. Due to the medicines and the difficulties before and after the surgery, I was the heaviest I ever was. This was the first time I ever worked with a personal trainer. While my post surgery physical goals were met, I still did not lose much weight. Since then, I have slowly lost weight. I allowed myself to stop exercising about 1 ½ -2 years ago, and began to have back pain, gained weight, became weaker, and my cholesterol became worse.
I had been a member of three other health clubs before joining Innovative, but they never met all my needs. I joined here because I was impressed with all the different opportunities to stay active and exercise and with the knowledgeable and friendly staff. I joined approximately 1 ½ years ago, but did not actively begin coming until a year ago. At that time, I began working with a personal trainer (Jenny) to achieve my goals. I wanted to regain strength, tone up, and to lose weight so I could FINALLY reach all my goals. Working with Jenny was fun and inspiring. She counseled me on nutrition and made working out a positive challenge. I have never felt healthier, and my recent medical tests report I have improved my cholesterol numbers. Jenny helped to remind me that good health will give you a positive attitude and the strength to help others.
