A NEW WAY TO REPAIR THE SKIN
Ultrasonic Skin therapy is a new approach to skin rejuvenation and repair that may only be performed in a medical setting. Medical offices and Medi-Spas around the country are also using ultrasound to minimize the appearance of raised scars, reduce the impact of wrinkles and lines and addressing remnants of acne scars and other surface imperfections of the skin.
Ultrasonic Rejuvenation enhances the effects of topical actives through increased blood flow and increased product penetration into the tissues areas where active ingredients can do the most good. In application, Ultrasound is often combined with Microdermabrasion. Brown hyperpigmentation spots in the face areas respond well to this treatment which is usually offered as a series of 4-6 visits spaced about 10 days apart.
One of the many benefits is the ultrasonic energy that allows for deep penetration of the tissue. The deep heating action stimulates the production of fibroblasts- the major initiator of collagen skin needs to maintain suppleness and elasticity. Estimates suggest that we lose about 1% of this primary structural body protein for every year of life, whish is why it is important to do as much as possible to rebuild our waning supply.
WHAT TO EXPECT When the treatment is over, your skin will feel refreshed, tight and firm. However, don't expect immediate results. Collagen takes time to rebuild and the results of the specialized gels and topical we use also need several visits to repair the skin. You also must be diligent in using the home care products supplied by your Esthetician.
WHAT ARE THEY? Rejuvenating Treatments include an advanced process of combining Microdermabrasion, warmed ultrasound and a chemical peel all in one treatment! Sound like a facial workout? It's actually quite relaxing and pampering. Short of laser resurfacing, rejuvenating treatments are one of the most effective ways to improve skin tone, texture, color, and reduce fine lines, wrinkles, mild rosacea, sunspots and acne. The most commonly treated area is the face and neck, but we can also treat the decollate or back area as well.
HOW DO THEY WORK? Microdermabrasion has been used for many years to cleanse the skin's surface, reduce imperfections in pigmentation, reverse sun damage, and stimulate collagen production. The stimulation of collagen in turn creates firming and tightening of the treated area. Microdermabrasion cleans off old dry cells and stimulates new cell production.
When we immediately add "issue specific" products to the cleansed surface, we are allowing that product to get to those new cells. We now have a way of penetrating that product up to 10x deeper! This is done by using ultrasound. The sound waves and mild warmth generated over the cleaned surface increases blood flow and oxygenation to the treated skin. By allowing these firming, toning, lightening, rejuvenating products deeper towards the skin's basal level multiplies the desired effects. You immediately feel mild tightening of the skin during this relaxing treatment.
Our third and final step involves "issue specific" acids. A variety of glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids are used to aid in the reduction of aging skin, sun damaged skin, melasma, hyper pigmentation, acneic skin, and rosacea. This synergy of acids helps reduce the appearance of freckles, acne, uneven color and tone, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and redness.
This treatment is perfect at any time when a deep cleansing and exfoliation is needed. When trying to work on a target issue where greater resolution is desired, a series of up to six treatments at two-week intervals is best. This allows us to "hit it while it's down" and really achieve good reduction of your specific issue!
