I began my fitness journey in March of this year, the month I turned 50.  I had been steadily gaining weight for the past 4 years and decided to make “Fifty & Fit” my new mantra.  With the loving encouragement of my wonderful husband and the tenacious spirit and motivation of my IHF fitness professional, Kristina, I have been able to achieve goals that a year ago seemed impossible.  When Kristina and I first began working together, she said if I “played by the rules” that I would get results.  In the past, my only exercise regime was walking on a treadmill.  Kristina has kept our training sessions challenging and interesting (even taking me outside in the summer for a few workouts).  Now I am working out with weights, bike-riding and running 3x/week.  With Kristina’s expertise, guidance and ongoing program challenges, I am now confident that I can continue to tone and remain fit.  My most recent accomplishment was running in my first official 5K run (33:33 minutes) on Thanksgiving Day. An important aspect of my success comes from the unwavering support I receive from my husband, my family and friends.  A special thanks to my husband, my sister Vickie and my friend and running partner, Laura.  My trainer, Kristina, went above the “call of duty” and was there on Thanksgiving Day to cheer me on and cross the finish line with me!  Thanksgiving Day was truly a day to thank God for this journey and the many blessings in my life.  I’m now looking forward to maintaining my fitness program and hope to run with my brother in his 10-mile Army run in October in Washington, DC!
